In a significant legal development, the Supreme Court of India has quashed the FIR and all criminal proceedings against popular YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav in connection with an alleged snake venom case linked to a rave party in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Following the verdict delivered on Thursday, Yadav expressed profound relief, describing the moment as his personal "Independence Day" and stating he now feels "free" from the legal ordeal that has shadowed him for over two years.
Supreme Court Bench Rules Case Legally Unsustainable
A bench comprising Justices M M Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh delivered the ruling, declaring that the case could not stand in law. The court noted a critical procedural flaw: the complaint under the Wildlife (Protection) Act had not been filed by an authorized person, rendering the legal foundation of the case invalid. This technical deficiency led to the complete dismissal of all charges against Yadav.
The controversy began in November 2023 when the Uttar Pradesh Police registered an FIR at the Sector 49 police station in Noida, investigating the suspected use of snake venom as a recreational drug at a rave party. Elvish Yadav was among six individuals named in the case. The Supreme Court has quashed the snake-related case against me. I always maintained faith in our judicial system, believing that justice would ultimately prevail," Yadav stated. He emphasized his long-held position of innocence, recalling, "Exactly two years ago, on March 17, 2024, I was arrested in this false case. Since November 2023, when the case was registered, I have consistently asserted that I had done nothing wrong."
However, Yadav's relief was tempered by reflections on the personal toll the case has taken. He alleged that extensive media coverage created a narrative of guilt that caused significant distress for him and his family. "The media ran continuous reports claiming I was guilty. My family faced immense harassment. For over two-and-a-half years, there was a stigma attached to my name, and my family suffered greatly," he lamented.
Yadav raised poignant questions about accountability, asking, "I have just one question — who will compensate for the harassment that my family and I faced? Will anyone apologize for the false narratives and the turmoil created?" He clarified that he is not seeking an apology but wonders how the loss of time and emotional suffering can be addressed or remedied.

Despite the challenges, Yadav struck a hopeful note, calling the verdict a turning point and declaring, "Today is a big day for me. Everything is fine now as the case has been won. Satyamev Jayate (truth prevails)." He expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, family, and well-wishers who stood by him during the difficult period. "My comeback was strong because I had the support of my family and well-wishers. Thank you to everyone who stood by me and trusted me. The Supreme Court has proved it today," he said.
