Dhurandhar Makes History as First Bollywood Film to Cross Rs 1000 Crore Milestone

In a monumental achievement for Indian cinema, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has officially crossed the coveted Rs 1000 crore mark at the global box office. The film, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Aditya Dhar, achieved this historic milestone on its third Sunday of release, cementing its place in cinematic history.

Joining Elite Company in Indian Cinema

With this remarkable accomplishment, Dhurandhar becomes the first Bollywood production ever to reach the thousand-crore benchmark. The film now stands as the third Indian film overall to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of the blockbuster southern productions Pushpa 2 and Baahubali 2.

Ravi Kishan's Passionate Defense Against Propaganda Allegations

Despite its unprecedented commercial success, the film has faced criticism from certain quarters who have labeled it as propaganda. Veteran actor and politician Ravi Kishan has now come forward with a strong and impassioned defense of the cinematic achievement.

Speaking exclusively to Hindustan Times, Kishan declared, "Calling it a propaganda film is very wrong! Actors from the South supported it openly, everyone should do that. A new trend has started of calling films propaganda, ek naya kabootar pakad liye hain log!"

The actor emphasized that such criticism has not diminished the film's widespread appeal among audiences, who have continued to flock to theaters in record numbers.

Reviving the Industry and Presenting Cinematic Brilliance

Kishan passionately argued that Dhurandhar has played a crucial role in revitalizing the Indian film industry. "It has revived the industry and brought out facts in cinematic brilliance," he stated, highlighting how the film's success has provided a much-needed boost to the entertainment sector.

The actor drew a striking comparison between the Dhurandhar franchise and the iconic classic Sholay, suggesting that both films have achieved a special place in cinematic history through their storytelling and impact.

Rooted in Reality and Historical Reflection

Addressing the film's content and approach, Kishan explained that Dhurandhar draws inspiration from real-world events and news stories. "The writer picks topics from real news and incidents, and the team cinematically presents them on the screen," he revealed, defending the film's narrative choices.

The actor further elaborated on the importance of cinema reflecting societal realities and even revisiting historical narratives. "It's important that cinema presents on screen what has and is happening in society. In fact, we need to correct our history as well by way of research, those pages that were torn away from our history! That truth needs to be brought in front of people," Kishan asserted with conviction.

A Blessing for the Film Industry

Kishan highlighted the broader economic impact of Dhurandhar's success, noting that the film industry had been facing significant challenges. "Bahut haalat kharab thi industry ki, Bhojpuri industry has almost shut down! This has come as a blessing for the industry, and lakhs of people earn their livelihood through cinema," he emphasized, pointing to the crucial role such blockbusters play in sustaining the entertainment ecosystem.

Technical Excellence Behind the Success

The actor credited the film's monumental achievement to its exceptional technical and creative execution. According to Kishan, Dhurandhar worked because of its "amazing BGM (background music), super editing, bang-on energy by actors and the director took great shots and spent a whopping Rs 260 crores."

This substantial investment in production values, combined with meticulous craftsmanship, created a cinematic experience that resonated powerfully with audiences across demographics.

Personal Reflections and Future Aspirations

In a more personal reflection, Kishan shared his thoughts about potentially being part of such a landmark project. "I know someone somewhere must be writing a Dhurandhar for me. What's in fate will come to me; this was not in my account," he mused philosophically.

The actor expressed no regrets about not being part of the film, though he admitted that if he had been offered a role, Ranveer Singh's character Hazma would have been his top choice. "Similarly, I am not in my favourite Gangs of Wasseypur, so I don't have any FOMO of that!" he added with characteristic humor.

Looking ahead, Kishan revealed his desire to collaborate with visionary directors. "But, I will surely like to work with Aditya (Dhar) or Mr (Sanjay Leela Bhansali) Bhansali, like now I got to work with Karan Johar in Naagzilla. So, no regrets," he concluded, expressing optimism about future creative partnerships.

The unprecedented success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge represents a watershed moment for Bollywood, demonstrating the massive potential of Indian cinema when compelling storytelling meets technical excellence and resonates with contemporary audiences.
