Danish Iqbal's Breakthrough Role as Bade Saab in 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'
The espionage thriller 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' has catapulted actor Danish Iqbal into the limelight, with his portrayal of the character Bade Saab—widely interpreted as a reference to underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim—receiving significant attention. Following the film's release, Iqbal has expressed immense gratitude for the overwhelming love and appreciation from audiences, marking a pivotal moment in his acting career.
Revealing the Character: A Test of Patience
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Danish Iqbal opened up about the challenges of keeping his role under wraps. He noted that while other elements of 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' generated buzz, there was comparatively less curiosity about the characters initially. "Honestly, over the past three months, there were numerous instances where I felt compelled to announce, 'I am Bade Saab.' I yearned for the world to know, but my professional commitment bound me to secrecy," Iqbal shared, highlighting the internal struggle of maintaining confidentiality.
The actor filmed his scenes primarily in 2024, with additional shots completed the previous year. Reflecting on the experience, he described watching himself embody the role as a uniquely transformative journey. "It requires infusing your own intensity and meticulous attention to detail, which I focused on intently. As a trained actor, I grasp how to navigate such demanding scenarios. Moreover, having Aditya sir's guidance on set was invaluable; I believe we executed the vision effectively," Iqbal elaborated, praising director Aditya Dhar's supportive presence.
Collaborative Excellence on the 'Dhurandhar' Set
Danish Iqbal lavished praise on his co-star Ranveer Singh, describing his performance as "amazing" and expressing awe at sharing the set with him. "While it's undoubtedly memorable to be part of such a stellar cast, immersing oneself in a character often makes you forget everything else. Yet, the entire team was exceptionally kind, warm, and genuinely wonderful individuals," he recounted, emphasizing the positive atmosphere during production.
He further commended director Aditya Dhar for his visionary approach and consistency in delivering large-scale films. "Aditya sir is remarkably secure in his craft. He conducts extensive preparation, remains clear about his objectives, and never succumbs to external pressures. His drive and foresight are truly inspiring, and I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with him," Iqbal stated, highlighting Dhar's meticulous and focused filmmaking style.
'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' Achieves Box Office Milestones
Directed by Aditya Dhar, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' has made a monumental impact at the box office, surpassing Rs 100 crore on its opening day. This achievement eclipsed previous records held by blockbusters like Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jawan' and Prabhas' 'Kalki', solidifying its status as a commercial powerhouse.
The film features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun, and was released in theaters on March 19, 2026. Its success underscores the growing appeal of espionage thrillers in Indian cinema and marks a significant milestone for all involved.
