Building a Sustainable Entrepreneurial Movement
Dr Omkaar Hari Maali founded Udyami Maharashtra in 2020 with the mission of empowering Marathi entrepreneurs, particularly in the import-export sector. Since its inception, the initiative has achieved remarkable milestones:
- Trained over 10,000 youth, enabling many to establish businesses in Maharashtra and international markets.
- Provided mentorship and operational guidance for entrepreneurs setting up export businesses.
- Conducted vocational programs for women and export training for manufacturing units across the state.
- Improved market access for farmers and small businesses, facilitated exports generating significant economic value.
- Led to the creation of India’s first import-export cooperative society.
Guided by the principle of 'To Feed All,' inspired by the vision of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dr Maali articulates that the movement aims to promote entrepreneurship as a viable pathway to economic self-reliance across Maharashtra.
The UDYAMI Awards have firmly established themselves as a premier platform for recognizing business achievements within Maharashtra’s regional entrepreneurial ecosystem, while actively encouraging first-generation entrepreneurs to build and scale sustainable enterprises. Dr Maali encapsulated the vision of the movement, stating, “Our identity is not defined by words, but by the success of the entrepreneurs we have built.”
