Saurashtra University marked a significant academic milestone on Thursday by successfully conducting its 60th annual convocation ceremony. The prestigious event was graced by the presence of Gujarat Governor and University Chancellor Acharya Devvrat, alongside State Education Minister Pradhyuman Vaja.
A Grand Celebration of Academic Excellence
The convocation was a grand affair celebrating the hard work and achievements of thousands of students. In a remarkable display of academic accomplishment, the university conferred degrees upon a total of 43,792 students spanning 14 different faculties. Adding to the glory, 178 gold medals were presented to 160 distinguished students who excelled in their respective fields of study.
Star Performers and Medal Winners
The ceremony spotlighted several extraordinary scholars who set new benchmarks. Aghara Dhruti Lalit from MP Shah Medical College in Jamnagar emerged as the top achiever, securing an impressive tally of seven gold medals and eight prizes in the MBBS programme.
Other notable high performers included Nimavat Gayatri Dilip from Monghiba Mahila Arts College in Amreli, who was awarded three gold medals and eight prizes for her BA studies. From the legal field, Gauswami Khyati Maheshpari of KA Pandhi Law College in Rajkot received three gold medals and seven prizes in LLB. Pandya Parth Jayesh from Government Medical College, Rajkot, was honoured with three gold medals and one prize in MS General Surgery.
Focus on Innovation and Holistic Development
University Vice-Chancellor Utpal Joshi formally welcomed the dignitaries and attendees. In his address, he highlighted the institution's forward-looking academic initiatives. He specifically mentioned the university's dedicated startup and innovation programmes, the implementation of new academic statutes, and applauded students for their outstanding performances in various sports arenas.
Education Minister Pradhyuman Vaja addressed the graduating class, imparting valuable life lessons. He emphasised the indispensable role of integrity and relentless hard work not just for personal success, but for contributing meaningfully to social progress and national development. The convocation served as both a recognition of past achievements and an inspiration for the graduates' future journeys.
