A circular issued on January 21 has called upon departments, centres, and employees of the university to submit comprehensive proposals for the operation and management of the new auditorium. Interested applicants are required to provide detailed operational models, revenue generation plans, and specific terms for the first year of functioning. According to the circular, all proposals must be submitted within a strict timeframe of 15 days to the executive engineer, who is convening the committee responsible for overseeing this critical process.
Historical Context and Project Delays
The auditorium, situated in PU's Sector 25 South Campus, has been under construction for an extended period, with its foundation stone laid back in 2009 by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Despite this early start, the project encountered repeated setbacks and delays, pushing its completion timeline far beyond initial expectations. University officials have now confirmed that the structure is nearing its final stages, with interior and finishing work currently underway in preparation for a planned formal launch.
