PPU Syndicate Approves Promotions, New Courses, Termination

The 28th syndicate meeting of Patliputra University (PPU) was held at its headquarters in Patna on Tuesday, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh. The meeting was attended by all members, including the government representative, and discussed several important issues related to administration, academics, and finance.

Key Decisions Taken

During the meeting, syndicate members unanimously approved the proposals passed in the 27th syndicate meeting along with several other agenda items. The syndicate also decided to constitute a selection committee for considering the promotion of teachers in the days to come, said PPU Registrar Abu Bakar.

Teacher Promotions Approved

According to the registrar, the meeting approved the promotion of 13 lecturers to the post of reader under the old Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) provision. Additionally, a teacher from the history department was promoted to the rank of professor. The syndicate also cleared proposals related to the promotion of several other teachers.

Termination of Absentee Faculty

The syndicate approved the proposal to terminate the services of Arushi Modi, who was appointed as assistant professor at RLSY College, Bakhtiyarpur. She had reportedly remained absent from duty for the last five years, the registrar said.

Introduction of Self-Financed Courses

The meeting further approved a proposal to introduce self-financed courses in several colleges, including G J College, Bihta; Ganga Devi Mahila College, Patna; J N Lal College, Khagaul; Mahila College, Khagaul; RLSY College, Bakhtiyarpur; R K D College, Patna; Arvind Mahila College, Patna; Kisan College, Nalanda; and S U College, Hilsa. The registrar said the move is expected to expand academic opportunities for students and strengthen the university's academic framework.

Among prominent members present at the meeting were Rajendra Gupta, MLC; Niraj Kumar; Narendra Kumar; Pratibha Singh; Arun Kumar; Rajeev Ranjan Shiv Kumar Yadav; Hem Lata Singh; Rashmi Akhauri; Ratna Amrit; Meera Kumari, and others.
