The ninth annual convocation of Parul University in Vadodara was a grand celebration of academic excellence, marked by the presence of distinguished personalities and the graduation of a massive batch of students. The ceremony was presided over by Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi, who delivered an inspiring address to the new graduates.
Inspiring Words from Leadership
Addressing the gathered students and faculty, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi underscored the pivotal role of education in national development. He stated that a strong educational foundation is essential for the holistic progress of the country. Sanghavi emphasized that institutions like Parul University have a critical responsibility: to mold young minds into future job creators, not just job seekers. He urged the graduating class to leverage their acquired knowledge for the betterment of society and to contribute actively to the nation's growth.
A Star-Studded and Record-Breaking Ceremony
The convocation was graced by Olympic bronze medalist boxer Mary Kom, tennis icon Sania Mirza, and renowned entrepreneur and businesswoman Vineeta Singh. According to the university, this year's convocation was one of its largest, with over 16,000 students receiving their degrees. The event itself saw the physical presence of 12,000 graduates from various disciplines, showcasing the institution's vast academic reach.
In a unique initiative supporting the 'Vocal for Local' and 'Make in India' campaigns, the university collaborated with women artisans. This partnership resulted in the creation of more than 16,000 handcrafted khadi scarves, which were presented to the graduating students as a symbol of indigenous craftsmanship and national pride.
Honouring Excellence and Achievement
The university recognized outstanding academic performance, awarding 104 gold medals and 44 certificates of merit. The prestigious President's Medal was awarded in two categories: to three distinguished alumni who brought remarkable honour to the university through their professional accomplishments, and to three startups for exemplifying exceptional entrepreneurial spirit. Furthermore, the convocation celebrated advanced research by honouring 135 PhD scholars with awards for their contributions.
The ceremony also featured a keynote address by the university's President, Dr. Devanshu Patel, who commended the students on their achievements and outlined the university's vision for the future. The event stood as a testament to the growing stature of Parul University as a major hub for education and innovation in the region.
