Patna's educational landscape is set for a significant boost as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a detailed review of two major upcoming university projects in the state capital. On Wednesday, the CM visited the construction sites of the Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS) and the Bihar Engineering University (BEU) located in the Mithapur institutional area.
On-Site Inspection and Directives for Timely Completion
During the inspection, Nitish Kumar took stock of the progress and instructed the concerned officials to ensure the speedy and high-quality completion of all ongoing construction works. He emphasized that these institutions were established with the core objective of providing high-level technical education to the youth of Bihar, both male and female.
Pratima S Verma, Secretary of the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education (DSTTE), briefed the Chief Minister about the BEU project. Simultaneously, Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Health Department, provided updates on the construction of the BUHS buildings.
Transforming Mithapur into an Educational Hub
Highlighting the strategic development of the zone, Nitish Kumar noted that the Mithapur area already hosts prominent institutions like the Chandragupt Institute of Management, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, NIFT, Chanakya Law University, and Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University. "This entire area has become quite good. With the completion of the construction work of these two universities, this area will look even better," the CM remarked.

Scope of the Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS)
The BUHS is an ambitious project under the state government's 'Saat Nischay-2' programme, aimed at elevating the quality of medical education in Bihar. The total area of the new building is 27,567 square metres.
The project is split into two key parts:
- Main University Building (12,645 sq m): This will house the administrative-cum-academic wing, examination rooms, a dispensary, a multipurpose stage, waiting rooms, an information centre, enrolment branch, chancellor’s room, and a training-cum-placement branch.
