JRSU to launch new forensic science, cyber security courses

In a significant move to strengthen higher education in specialized security fields, Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University (JRSU) has announced a major expansion of its academic programs. The university aims to dramatically increase its student capacity while introducing cutting-edge courses in high-demand sectors.

New Academic Programs Launched

According to Dr Hemendra Kumar Bhagat, the registrar of JRSU, the university is now conducting several new programs that address contemporary security challenges. The institution has introduced post-graduate courses in criminology and forensic science, along with multiple under-graduate offerings.

At the UG level, students can now pursue degrees in forensic science, computer and cyber security, and BBA in security management. These programs are designed to create skilled professionals who can tackle the evolving security threats in today's digital age.

Future Course Roadmap

The expansion plan doesn't stop with current offerings. Dr Bhagat revealed that post-graduate courses in cyber security, security management and disaster management are scheduled to commence from the 2026-27 academic session.

Furthermore, the university will introduce a Ph.D program in criminology starting from the 2025-26 session, providing research opportunities in this critical field. This phased approach ensures a comprehensive educational ecosystem from undergraduate to doctoral levels.

Campus Expansion Plans

The current JRSU building located near Morabadi ground has been identified as a limiting factor for student enrollment due to space constraints. To address this challenge, the university has prepared a detailed project report for constructing a new campus.

The new campus will be developed at Idri in Khunti district and is expected to be completed within four to five years. This infrastructure expansion is crucial for achieving the university's ambitious goal of increasing student strength from the current 600 to 3,500 students in the coming years.

This strategic expansion positions JRSU as a leading institution in security education, addressing the growing demand for specialized professionals in law enforcement, cyber security, and forensic sciences across India.
