In a significant move to address the skills gap in advanced manufacturing, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is broadening its educational offerings in artificial intelligence and robotics. The premier institute is actively preparing professionals for the sweeping technological changes transforming industrial sectors.
Admissions Open for Third Cohort of Executive Programme
The institute has now officially opened admissions for the third batch of its specialised executive-level robotics programme. This initiative is specifically designed for working professionals who aim to stay relevant in industries that are increasingly powered by artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and intelligent automation. The five-month intensive course is scheduled to commence in March.
Targeted at mid-career individuals, the programme seeks to bolster both technical expertise and managerial prowess in the dynamic field of robotics. The programme fee is set at nearly Rs 2 lakh, reflecting its comprehensive and advanced curriculum.
Curriculum Designed by Global Experts
IIT Delhi has revealed that the course content was developed with critical inputs from a blend of academic researchers and industry experts, hailing from both India and the United States. This collaborative approach ensures the curriculum mirrors the real-world, growing integration of AI and automation across entire industrial value chains.
An official from the institute explained that the programme uniquely merges core robotics engineering with AI-enabled sensing, mechatronics, and practical, hands-on prototyping. Participants will gain proficiency in several key areas:
- Robotic programming languages and system architecture
- Networked control systems
- End-to-end robotic device development, covering mechanical and electronic components
- Robotic vision for real-world industrial applications
Comprehensive Module Structure and Hands-On Support
The learning journey is delivered through six detailed modules that cover the entire spectrum of modern robotics. These include:
- Robotics and Automation
- Sensing and Perception
- Actuators and Motion Systems
- Modelling, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning
- Embedded Control and Mechatronics
- Applications and Emerging Trends
Beyond the core modules, learners are provided with essential tutorial support in crucial practical skills. This supplementary training encompasses CAD design, 3D printing, Arduino programming, and focused sessions on AI and robotics, ensuring participants can translate theory into tangible prototypes and solutions.
This expansion of IIT Delhi's training ecosystem represents a strategic effort to build a future-ready workforce. By equipping professionals with cutting-edge automation skills, the institute is directly contributing to India's competitiveness in the global landscape of advanced manufacturing and technological innovation.
