Gorakhpur University Celebrates National Mathematics Day, Honors Ramanujan
Gorakhpur University Marks National Mathematics Day

Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University marked National Mathematics Day with a special commemorative event on December 22. The day is celebrated across India to honor the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan.

University Department Hosts Commemorative Programme

The event was organized by the university's Department of Mathematics and Statistics. It saw active participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students who gathered to pay tribute to Ramanujan's enduring legacy in the field of mathematics.

Expert Insights from Banaras Hindu University

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Shyamlal from the Department of Mathematics at the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU). In his lecture, he illuminated the extraordinary and pioneering contributions made by Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Addressing the assembled research scholars and postgraduate students, Professor Shyamlal delved into several of Ramanujan's complex mathematical identities. He noted that a significant number of these formulations remain unsolved puzzles for the global mathematical community even today.

The professor went beyond theory, demonstrating simplified approaches to understanding some of these renowned identities. To foster critical thinking, he also posed analytical problems for the students, actively encouraging them to engage more deeply with advanced mathematical concepts.

Celebrating a Legacy of Genius

The celebration served as a powerful reminder of Ramanujan's genius, which continues to inspire mathematicians and students. Events like these are crucial for motivating the next generation of researchers to explore the challenging and beautiful world of pure mathematics.
