The results for the highly competitive Common Law Aptitude Test (CLAT) for undergraduate courses have been announced, bringing pride to Lucknow. The city has produced five high-achieving candidates who have secured positions within the prestigious national top 100 rank list.
Lucknow's Stellar Performance in CLAT UG
Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) in Lucknow, which served as the convening university for CLAT 2026, declared the results on Tuesday. Among the top 100 all-India ranks, five talented students from Lucknow have made their mark. The group includes two girls and three boys, showcasing a balanced representation. The highest score achieved in the CLAT undergraduate examination this year was an impressive 112.75 marks.
Successful candidates can now access their official scorecards by logging into their registered accounts on the dedicated CLAT 2026 portal. The admissions process for the five-year integrated UG programmes, set to begin in the 2026-27 academic year, will be conducted by participating National Law Universities based solely on these CLAT 2026 scores.
National Landscape: Bengaluru Leads, Major Cities Follow
The results paint an interesting picture of the national distribution of top legal talent. Bengaluru emerged as the top performer, with a remarkable 15 students in the top 100. It was followed by the national capital, Delhi, with eight candidates, and Mumbai with seven.
Other cities also showed strong results. Chennai, Hyderabad, and Jaipur each had six candidates in the elite list. Meanwhile, Lucknow shared its tally of five candidates with Gurgaon and the Greater Noida/Noida region. Additionally, four candidates from Hisar also earned a place in the top 100, highlighting the pan-India reach of the exam.
High Attendance and Diverse Participation
CLAT 2026 was conducted on December 7 across 156 examination centers spread over 25 states and 4 union territories. The exam witnessed a robust overall attendance of 96.01%, indicating its significance for law aspirants nationwide.
The demographic breakdown of candidates who appeared reveals a heartening trend towards greater diversity in legal education. Among the test-takers, 57% were female, 43% were male, and nine were transgender candidates.
Postgraduate Results: Delhi Dominates, Lucknow Performs Well
The results for the postgraduate (PG) course were also announced simultaneously. In the CLAT PG top 100, Delhi took the lead with 22 candidates, establishing a clear dominance. It was followed by Jabalpur with eight and Jaipur with seven top-rankers.
Lucknow maintained a strong presence in the PG category as well, with four candidates securing positions in the top 100. The highest mark secured in the CLAT 2026 PG examination was 104.25. Admissions to PG programmes for the 2026-27 session will also be based on these scores, as confirmed in a press release issued by the convening university, RMLNLU.
