West Bengal Opens TET Job Portal for 6,754 Qualified Candidates
WB TET Portal Opens for Teacher Recruitment from Nov 19

West Bengal Education Minister Announces Major Teacher Recruitment Drive

In a significant development for aspiring educators, West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu declared on Tuesday that the state will open an online portal specifically for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidates starting November 19. This announcement brings substantial relief to thousands of candidates who successfully cleared the challenging examination.

Portal to Facilitate Assistant Teacher Applications

The newly launched online platform by the Primary Education Board will enable TET-qualified individuals to apply for assistant teacher positions across various educational institutions. The portal will serve state-run, state-approved primary and junior basic schools throughout West Bengal, marking a crucial step in streamlining the teacher recruitment process.

In a social media post written in Bengali, Minister Basu emphasized that "from tomorrow, the West Bengal Primary Board will open their online portal for TET-qualified candidates for the post of assistant teachers." He further highlighted that this initiative aligns with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's vision for educational development and teacher recruitment in the state.

Staggering TET 2023 Results and Upcoming Vacancies

The minister's announcement follows closely on the heels of the TET 2023 results declaration on September 24, which revealed remarkably low qualification rates. Out of 2,73,147 candidates who appeared for the examination, only 6,754 managed to qualify, representing a mere 2.47 percent success rate.

This development gains additional significance given the earlier announcement made during the third week of September, where Minister Basu confirmed that the Board of Primary Education would issue notifications for 13,421 vacant teaching positions across the state. The recruitment process for these positions is expected to commence after the Durga Puja festivities.

Importance of TET Certification in Teaching Profession

The Teacher Eligibility Test serves as a mandatory eligibility criterion for individuals seeking teaching appointments in schools from Classes 1 to 8, particularly in all government-run and aided schools. The examination ensures that only qualified and competent candidates enter the teaching profession, maintaining educational standards across the state.

The current initiative represents a substantial opportunity for the 6,754 successful TET candidates to secure stable teaching positions in West Bengal's educational institutions. With the portal now operational, qualified candidates can promptly submit their applications and move forward in their teaching careers.
