Uttar Pradesh Celebrates Stellar Performance in UPSC 2025 Results

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2025 results have brought immense pride to Uttar Pradesh, with six candidates from the state securing positions among the top 30 rank holders nationwide. This remarkable achievement underscores the academic prowess and determination of aspirants from UP, highlighting a significant contribution to India's civil services cadre.

Astha Jain Leads the Charge with All India Rank 9

Astha Jain, a resident of Shamli, has emerged as the state topper by securing All India Rank (AIR) 9. This was her third attempt at the prestigious examination. In her previous attempt, she had cleared UPSC with AIR 186 and was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS). Currently, she is undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.

Astha is an arts graduate from Delhi University's Miranda House, where she excelled academically. She opted for political science and international relations as her optional subjects in the UPSC mains examination. Her academic record is impeccable, with a perfect 10 CGPA in Class X and an outstanding 99.2% marks in Class XII.

Her parents, Mamta and Ajay Jain, expressed overwhelming joy at her success. Mamta Jain stated, "It feels surreal, and we are trying to absorb the feeling that our daughter made it to the top 10. It is her childhood dream that came true now." Ajay Jain, who runs a confectionery store, added, "We believed in our daughter and the results paid off. Her dedication, hard work, and perseverance truly paid off."

Other Notable Achievers from Uttar Pradesh

Surabhi Yadav, a 25-year-old native of Bareilly, secured AIR 14. She is currently working as a district youth officer with the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the ‘My Bharat' initiative. Based in New Delhi, Surabhi completed her BA in History Honours from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi University, and later pursued her MA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Elated by her success, Surabhi shared, "I learnt about the result through my friends. Of course, I am very happy to achieve my long-time goal. In my free time, I do Warli art, which I learnt during Covid." Her father, Rakesh Singh, serves in the Uttar Pradesh Police and is posted in Varanasi.

Subham Singh, a 32-year-old corporate law officer from Varanasi, realized his nine-year-long dream by securing AIR 21 in UPSC 2025. In his second attempt in 2018, he had secured AIR 402 and has since been working in the corporate sector. An electrical engineer by qualification, Subham emphasized, "I was stubborn to crack UPSC with a good rank. It is a journey of dedication and perseverance."

He is the son of retired chief veterinary officer VP Singh and credited his family, especially his wife, Dr. Sanjana Singh, for unwavering support. "I was married for 2 years, and it was my last attempt. Though she never pushed me, she was always helpful in my UPSC journey," he said. Subham is also a recipient of the Ashoka University Young India Fellowship, under which he pursued a one-year postgraduate diploma in liberal studies.

Ishita Sharma, a 24-year-old from Gorakhpur, bagged AIR 26. She drew inspiration from her brother, Ashutosh, who encouraged her to aim high. An MCom graduate from Delhi University, Ishita recalled, "My brother kept telling me that I must aim to become a ‘raja' in my own field."

Two other toppers from Uttar Pradesh include Ifra Shams Ansari, 26, from Bhadohi, who secured AIR 24, and Nikita Verma, 25, from Ghaziabad, with AIR 30. Ifra is a graduate from Delhi University, while Nikita holds a BA Honours degree from the same institution.
