UPPSC PCS 2024 Final Result Announced After Long Delays

UPPSC Announces PCS 2024 Final Result Following Extended Delays

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has officially declared the final result for the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination (PCS) 2024, concluding a process that spanned more than two years. This announcement brings significant relief to thousands of candidates who endured prolonged waiting periods due to multiple schedule disruptions.

Selection Details and Category-Wise Breakdown

Originally, the commission had advertised a total of 947 posts across 24 different categories. However, selections have been finalized for only 932 positions, as stated by commission secretary Ashok Kumar, attributing the shortfall to the non-availability of suitable candidates in some areas. Kumar confirmed that comprehensive details, including marks, category-wise cut-offs, and post-wise cut-off marks, will be uploaded on the official UPPSC website for transparency.

Among the successful candidates, the distribution reflects a diverse representation: 272 candidates belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category, 186 to the Scheduled Castes (SC), and 22 to the Scheduled Tribes (ST). The recommendations for these selected individuals will now be forwarded to the state government to initiate the formal appointment procedures.

Timeline of Delays and Examination Schedule

The PCS 2024 examination process was plagued by repeated delays, causing the entire schedule to deviate significantly from initial plans. For context, the PCS 2023 final result was announced earlier on January 23, 2024, highlighting a contrast in timelines. The preliminary examination for PCS 2024 faced several postponements due to protests by aspirants, eventually being conducted on December 22, 2024. Its result was declared on February 28, 2025.

Subsequently, the main examination took place from June 29 to July 2, 2025, with its result announced seven months later on February 4. Interviews were then conducted between February 16 and March 20. In a notable development, following orders from the High Court, interviews for two candidates were held separately on March 23 before the final result was prepared and declared. Overall, the final result has been released nearly one-and-a-half years after the preliminary examination, underscoring the extended duration of this recruitment cycle.
