The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) is set to inaugurate its first CBSE-affiliated school at Kharegaon, with operations commencing on June 8. Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao made the announcement on Tuesday following a comprehensive review of the campus facilities. The school will be operated in collaboration with Christel House India, a non-profit organization, under a 30-year partnership agreement.
Partnership and Curriculum
Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in September last year, Christel House India will appoint trained teaching and non-teaching staff and deliver free education from pre-primary through Class XII. In the initial phase, classes from nursery to Standard II will be introduced. The initiative aims to provide students from economically weaker sections access to the national-level CBSE curriculum, thereby creating new opportunities for quality education.
Comprehensive Support for Students
Commissioner Rao emphasized that students will receive uniforms, textbooks, educational materials, meals, and transportation facilities entirely free of cost. Beyond academics, the school will focus on higher education support, career guidance, and employability-oriented training to prepare students for future success.
School Infrastructure and Facilities
The school building is equipped with a library, science and computer laboratory, language lab, and dedicated spaces for sports and arts. Safety measures include CCTV surveillance and fire safety systems, ensuring a secure learning environment.
This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing educational access and quality in Thane, particularly for underprivileged communities.
