Jaipur witnessed a significant gathering of student leaders as Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated the 61st regional convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday afternoon. The three-day conference is set to host more than 700 representatives from the student organization, drawn from 23 districts across the state.
CM Sharma's Vision for Education and Youth
Addressing the assembled students, Chief Minister Sharma emphasized the transformative role of the National Education Policy (NEP). He described it as a crucial move to revitalize India's traditional knowledge systems. The promotion of teaching and learning in Indian languages was a key point of his address, with Sharma noting that Rajasthan is taking consistent strides in this direction every day.
The CM credited ABVP for instilling discipline and a sense of duty in its members, qualities he said form the bedrock of a strong nation. He pointed out that many individuals who began their journey in ABVP now hold prominent positions. Looking ahead, Sharma announced that the state government is preparing to introduce a comprehensive youth policy soon.
From Job Seekers to Job Creators
In a powerful message to the youth, the Chief Minister urged them to aspire to be job creators rather than job seekers. He called upon them to play a pivotal role in Rajasthan's development narrative. To bolster this vision, Sharma outlined several initiatives already undertaken by his administration.
The state has established 65 i-Start Launchpad Nests in selected schools and colleges across 33 districts, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit. Furthermore, the government has set up 71 new government colleges. Academic expansion includes the introduction of new subjects in 49 postgraduate and 58 undergraduate colleges, alongside the commencement of new science faculties in 12 colleges and commerce faculties in 5 colleges.
ABVP's Agenda and Broader Perspectives
The conference is actively discussing a range of student-centric issues, which will later be formally shared with the state government for consideration. During the proceedings, Devdutt Joshi, National Joint Organising Secretary of ABVP, addressed the growing footprint of online education.
Joshi stated that the organization plans to launch innovative efforts to convert screen time into constructive activity time, ensuring the holistic development of young minds in the digital age. The event also saw participation from Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (RSS) regional leader Nimbaram.
Nimbaram encouraged the student community, stating that student power should extend beyond campuses and actively contribute to nation-building activities. He stressed the importance of the youth connecting with India's illustrious cultural and historical heritage.
