Lakshmi: Aspiring Engineer and Budding Writer
Kumari Lakshmi, an inmate of the Government Children's Home for Girls, achieved an outstanding score of 422 marks (70%) in the II PUC science stream from Devaraja PU College. What makes her accomplishment particularly noteworthy is her educational journey as a Kannada-medium student until SSLC who boldly opted for the science stream with clear career aspirations.
"My goal is to pursue engineering in the Electronics and Communication stream. I also love writing stories," Lakshmi stated, revealing her dual passions. Beyond her academic pursuits, she has already established herself as a budding writer, having penned ten stories and receiving a special award from the Karnataka Bala Vikasa Academy under the department of women and child welfare.
Currently, Lakshmi is actively preparing for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) to secure admission to engineering programs, demonstrating her commitment to transforming her aspirations into reality through systematic preparation and dedication.
Yashaswini: Commerce Stream Achiever with BBA Ambitions
The second achiever, Yashaswini, secured an impressive 399 marks in the commerce stream. She studies at Government Girls High School and PU College located in People's Park while residing at the Kanaka Mahila Sangha After Care Hostel in JP Nagar. Her academic performance has paved the way for her next educational goal.
Yashaswini has set her sights on pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree, demonstrating clear career planning and ambition in the field of commerce and business management. Her achievement in the commerce stream provides a solid foundation for her future academic and professional endeavors.
Overcoming Adversity with Determination
Mahadeva Kote, a member of the Child Welfare Committee, offered heartfelt praise for both students' accomplishments. "Both these children have faced significant adversities and grown up without the emotional support many others receive. Yet, they have excelled using the opportunities provided. Their success is truly inspiring and serves as a role model for all," he emphasized.
Kote further elaborated on the broader significance of their achievements, noting that "Their journeys reaffirm that with support and determination, no obstacle is insurmountable." This statement underscores how institutional support combined with personal resilience can create pathways to success even in challenging circumstances.
Institutional Support and Future Prospects
The achievements of Lakshmi and Yashaswini highlight several important aspects of educational development:
- Government care institutions providing educational opportunities to residents
- The importance of academic guidance and support systems for students from challenging backgrounds
- The role of determination in overcoming educational barriers
- How clear goal-setting can drive academic performance and future planning
Both students represent examples of how access to education, combined with personal ambition and institutional support, can create transformative opportunities.
