Lucknow Students Embark on Heritage Tour via UPSTDC Bus, Visit Vidhan Sabha
Lucknow Students Tour Heritage Sites, Interact with Speaker

In a unique educational initiative, more than 100 students from Classes 6 and 7 across various schools in Lucknow embarked on a heritage and educational tour on January 28 and 29. This engaging excursion was facilitated through the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation's (UPSTDC) Lucknow Darshan Bus, offering a blend of learning and exploration.

Exploring Lucknow's Rich Heritage

The morning tours were strategically organized as part of end-of-session activities, providing a refreshing break for students ahead of their upcoming examinations. During the two-day event, the young participants visited several significant heritage locations scattered throughout the city, immersing themselves in Lucknow's historical tapestry.

A Visit to the Heart of Democracy

A highlight of the tour was the visit to the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, where students were granted special access to view the main Assembly Hall. This rare opportunity allowed them to witness firsthand the seat of legislative power in the state.

Interaction with Legislative Leaders

On January 28, the students had the privilege of interacting with Vidhan Sabha Speaker Satish Mahana. During this engaging session, Speaker Mahana elaborated on the crucial role of the Assembly, explained democratic processes in detail, and shared insights into the rich history of the legislature. His interaction aimed to demystify governance for the young minds.

Government's Vision for Student Engagement

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasized the initiative's core objective. He stated, "The initiative aimed to familiarize students with the city's history and governance, bridging the gap between textbook learning and real-world institutions." Minister Singh further announced plans to extend this educational outreach, revealing that similar tours for other schools would be organized throughout February, ensuring more students benefit from this experiential learning.

Incentives for Educational Exploration

To encourage participation and make the tour accessible, the UPSTDC offered a substantial 20% discount on the bus fare for the students. This financial incentive underscores the government's commitment to promoting educational and heritage awareness among the youth.

This heritage tour not only provided a practical learning experience but also fostered a deeper connection between Lucknow's students and their city's cultural and political heritage, setting a precedent for future educational initiatives.
