Kerala's Little KITEs Project Recognizes Top Schools with Prestigious State Awards

The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) has officially announced the recipients of the state-level awards for its innovative 'Little KITEs' project, which is actively implemented across public schools throughout Kerala. This initiative is designed to foster student engagement in high-tech educational activities, with a total of 2,248 Little KITEs units currently operational in high schools statewide.

Top Performers and Their Achievements

In a highly competitive evaluation, AMMHSS Edayaranmula in Pathanamthitta district emerged as the best school unit in the state, securing this top honor for the second consecutive year. The school's selection was largely attributed to its outstanding social interventions that have made a significant impact on the community.

GHS Kurumbala in Wayanad district claimed the second position, recognized for its excellence in conducting specialized training sessions tailored for children with special needs, along with comprehensive orientation programs for other students and parents. GGHSS Cotton Hill in Thiruvananthapuram rounded out the top three, earning the third-place distinction.

Substantial Cash Prizes and Recognition

The award-winning schools will receive substantial financial rewards in addition to special recognition. At the state level, the first, second, and third-place winners will be granted cash prizes of Rs 2.5 lakh, Rs 2 lakh, and Rs 1.5 lakh respectively.

For district-level achievements, schools securing the top three positions will be awarded Rs 40,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 20,000 respectively. Beyond monetary rewards, all winning institutions will receive specially designed trophies and certificates of merit. Additional certificates will be distributed to recognize excellence at the sub-district level.

Rigorous Selection Process

The award recipients were carefully selected by a dedicated committee chaired by K Anvar Sadath, the Chief Executive Officer of KITE. The evaluation process involved assessing schools against 16 distinct criteria, ensuring a comprehensive review of their contributions and performance.

Key evaluation parameters included:

  • Daily unit activities and their consistency
  • Meaningful social interventions and community impact
  • Quality of school wiki documentation
  • Maintenance standards of high-tech classrooms
  • Effectiveness of public training sessions conducted by the units

Award Distribution and Future Prospects

The formal distribution of these prestigious awards will take place during the upcoming Little KITEs State Camp, scheduled to be held during the summer vacation period. This event will not only celebrate the achievements of the winning schools but also provide a platform for sharing best practices and inspiring further innovation in educational technology across Kerala's public school system.

The Little KITEs project continues to demonstrate Kerala's commitment to integrating technology into education while emphasizing social responsibility and inclusive learning environments for all students.
