Kanpur Students Embark on Educational Tour to Agricultural University
In a significant educational initiative, students from various upper primary schools in the Jhinjhak development block of Kanpur Dehat district visited the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology in Kanpur on Monday. This visit was organized under the educational tour programme of the National Innovation Campaign scheme, aimed at fostering scientific curiosity and practical learning among young minds.
Exploring Scientific Departments and Facilities
The students gained hands-on knowledge of scientific facts by touring several key departments of the university. Their itinerary included visits to the meteorological observatory, where they learned about weather patterns and climate science, and the student training field, which showcased agricultural practices. Additionally, they explored the classrooms and laboratories of the entomology and plant pathology departments, gaining insights into insect studies and plant diseases.
Under this comprehensive tour programme, the children were taken to various faculties of the university and sites of archaeological and scientific importance. This exposure was designed to broaden their understanding of India's diverse fields, including history, science, etiquette, and nature, as emphasized by educational officials.
Logistics and Support for the Tour
As per directives from the State Project Office, each student was provided with essential materials, including biscuits and a water bottle, to ensure their comfort during the visit. The tour was formally flagged off by Block Education Officer Shailesh Dwivedi, who oversaw the departure of the bus. Guest faculty members from the agricultural university, Rajiv Kumar Singh and Vineet Dheer, played a crucial role by providing new information to the children as they toured the various departments.
Teachers from various schools, including Atma Prakash Mishra, Pradeep Katiyar, Manjeet Singh Gautam, Anees Fatima, Alam Prakash, Manjesh Kumar, Alok Kumar Gupta, Lokendra Kumar, Yogendra Kumar, and Shivani Vyas, along with office accountant Roshni Pal, actively participated in guiding the students. They provided detailed explanations about the relevant sites, highlighting their importance from an agricultural scientific perspective.
Educational Impact and Official Guidance
ARP Arvind Kumar Singh Chauhan, who was involved in the tour, stated that such educational programmes awaken a consciousness in children, enabling them to personally understand and appreciate India's diversities. He emphasized that these experiences help students connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, particularly in fields like agriculture and science.
