In response to escalating temperatures across the state, the Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Department issued a directive on Monday, mandating an immediate revision of school timings. Under the newly established schedule, educational institutions from Kindergarten to Class VIII will conduct sessions from 7:00 am to 11:30 am. For senior students in Classes 9 to 12, the school day will extend slightly, concluding at 12:00 noon. This adjustment is set to take effect starting Tuesday and applies uniformly to all government, aided, minority, and private schools throughout Jharkhand.
Officials emphasized that the decision was driven by reports of the "increasing impact of heat" from multiple districts, highlighting a growing concern for student welfare. In a formal statement, the department clarified that teachers and non-teaching staff in government schools will remain on duty until 1:00 pm. The additional time will be allocated to non-academic responsibilities, such as administrative duties and maintaining essential records.

Following the state government's order, the Ranchi district administration promptly notified schools of the revised timings. Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri underscored the urgency, stating, "All schools in the district must comply with the new timings to safeguard students amid rising temperatures."
