In a remarkable achievement, Vikas Panwar (22) from the remote Jubli village in Kupvi, under Chopal sub-division of Shimla district, Himachal Pradesh, has cleared the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 in his very first attempt. He secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) of 159, bringing pride to his home state and inspiring aspirants from rural backgrounds across the country.
From KBC Fame to Civil Services: Panwar's Inspiring Journey
Panwar is no stranger to the national spotlight. He previously gained widespread attention after participating in the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, where he won a substantial prize of Rs 50 lakh last year. This experience not only showcased his intellectual prowess but also provided financial support for his UPSC preparation. His father, Chatar Panwar, serves as a school principal in Delhi, highlighting a family dedicated to education and public service.
Himachal Police Inspector Sanjeev Kumar Also Qualifies
Adding to Himachal Pradesh's success story, Sanjeev Kumar, an inspector with the Himachal Pradesh Police, has also qualified the UPSC examination, securing the 844th rank. Currently posted at the police station, state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau in Nahan of Sirmaur district, Kumar hails from Nurpur in Kangra district.
