Teacher Allegedly Beats 6-Year-Old Over Rs 100 Fee in Haryana School, Probe Ordered

A shocking incident has emerged from a private school in Haryana's Nuh district, where a six-year-old student was allegedly beaten up by a teacher over the non-payment of a nominal school fee. The incident, which occurred in Shah Chokha village, has prompted swift action from local authorities, with the Punhana sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) ordering an inquiry on Wednesday, just a day after the alleged assault.

Details of the Alleged Assault

According to a complaint filed by the child's family, the Class II student had gone to school to appear for his annual examination when he was asked by his teacher, identified as Ajrudin, to deposit a pending exam fee of Rs 100. When the child responded that he would bring the money the next day, the teacher allegedly lost his temper and thrashed him with kicks and punches. The assault left visible marks on the child's face, causing significant distress, and the teacher reportedly threatened more severe punishment if the fee was not paid promptly.

The matter came to light after the child returned home visibly shaken. His family immediately approached the school to confront the teacher and management. However, the complainant alleged that instead of addressing the issue, the teacher misbehaved with them and used abusive language, while the school management failed to take immediate corrective action. In a statement to the media, the child's brother described the ordeal, noting that red marks from the slaps and punches were still visible nearly 28 hours later, and the school reportedly responded dismissively, saying, "Do whatever you want; if a child studies here, this is how they will be treated."

Official Response and Investigation

Following the family's complaint, the SDM directed the station house officer, district education officer, and block education officer to conduct a thorough probe into the incident. Officials have stated that further action will be determined based on the findings of the investigation. As of now, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered, but the inquiry aims to uncover the facts and ensure accountability.

This case highlights broader concerns about child safety and disciplinary practices in educational institutions. The alleged beating over a small fee has sparked outrage, emphasizing the need for stricter oversight and prompt responses to such grievances. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities committed to taking appropriate measures to address the situation and prevent similar incidents in the future.
