The Haryana Women's Commission has intervened forcefully after a disturbing video showing the brutal assault of two girl students by a private school director went viral on social media. The commission has demanded a detailed investigation report within five days, issuing formal notices to top district officials.
Shocking Video Triggers Immediate Action
The incident, which has sparked outrage across the state, occurred at Nav Jyoti School in Dhani Sanchala–Bhojraj village within the Bhuna block of Fatehabad district. The 53-second CCTV footage, time-stamped 10:18 a.m. on November 24, was made public on December 2. It captures a scene of horrific violence where the school director is seen manhandling the minors.
The video shows nine students lined up before the principal. The director, identified as Subhash Sheoran, is first heard issuing threats. He then proceeds to slap one student repeatedly, pulls her down violently by her hair, and strikes her with his knee. In the same clip, another student is dragged by her neck and intimidated.
Authorities Swing Into Investigation Mode
Following the directive from the Women's Commission, notices have been served to the Superintendent of Police (Fatehabad), the District Education Officer, and the Directorate of Secondary Education. An inquiry team from the Education Department visited the school on Wednesday to gather facts.
The investigation has already uncovered serious irregularities. Sources reveal that although Nav Jyoti School is officially accredited only up to Class 10, its director was also teaching students of Classes 11 and 12. These senior students were formally enrolled in another school, a fact that has led the inquiry team to visit that institution as well. The school management has been questioned extensively.
Director's Defense and Ongoing Fallout
When confronted by the media, school director Subhash Sheoran attempted to justify his actions. He claimed the physical punishment was meted out after mobile phones were found in the possession of the students. Sheoran stated that the parents had been informed about the incident and that no formal complaint had been filed by the families so far.
However, this defense has done little to quell the anger. The Haryana Women's Commission's five-day deadline underscores the urgency with which the state views this case of alleged child abuse within an educational institution. The actions of the authorities in the coming days will be closely watched as they determine the appropriate legal and administrative consequences for the accused director.
