Girls Outperform Boys in J&K Board Exams

Girls have outperformed boys in the recent class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education. Officials announced the results on Wednesday, revealing strong overall pass rates.

Class 10 Results Show Strong Performance

The board declared that about 85 percent of students passed the class 10 examinations. A total of 94,845 students appeared for these exams, which were held in October-November last year.

Among these candidates, 47,736 were boys and 47,109 were girls. The detailed results indicate that girls achieved a slightly higher pass percentage.

Girls Take a Marginal Lead

Specifically, 40,408 girls passed the class 10 exam, representing 85.78 percent. In comparison, 40,242 boys qualified, which translates to 84.30 percent. This shows a clear edge for female students.

Furthermore, a significant number of students secured top grades. The board reported that 16,550 students received the A1 grade, followed by 14,398 students who obtained A2.

Class 12 Results Follow Similar Trend

For the class 12 examinations, the overall pass rate stood at 84 percent. A total of 70,735 students appeared for these exams.

Once again, girls demonstrated superior performance. Eighty-six percent of girls passed the exam, while boys lagged behind at 82 percent.

High Achievers in Class 12

Officials highlighted an impressive achievement: 33,549 candidates, or 47 percent of the total, secured distinction by crossing the 75 percent threshold. This indicates a high level of academic excellence among the students.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board's results underscore a consistent pattern where girls are excelling in school examinations. The data provides valuable insights into educational outcomes in the region.
