CBSE Warns Schools: Update Teacher Details Online by Feb 2026 or Face Action
CBSE: Update Teacher Details Online by Feb 2026 or Face Action

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a firm reminder to all its affiliated schools. Schools must upload and regularly update mandatory teacher-related details on their official websites. This action is part of the board's "mandatory public disclosure" requirements.

Strict Deadline and Format

CBSE directed schools to strictly comply with the disclosure rules. They must upload teacher qualification information in the revised Appendix-IX format. The deadline for this upload is February 15, 2026.

The board warned that failure to follow these instructions will be treated seriously. Non-compliance could invite action under the board's affiliation bylaws. Specifically, penalties may apply under chapter 12 of these bylaws.

Repeated Non-Compliance Issues

CBSE observed that despite repeated directions, several schools have not updated information on their websites regularly. Some schools uploaded incorrect details or invalid documents under the mandatory public disclosure.

Details of teachers and their qualifications are "invariably" missing from many school websites. This lack of transparency affects parents and other stakeholders who rely on this information.

Mandatory Website Requirements

In a circular dated January 12, CBSE clarified the requirements. Schools seeking or holding affiliation must maintain functional websites. These websites must carry comprehensive information on several key areas.

  • School infrastructure details
  • Affiliation status with CBSE
  • Teacher particulars including names and qualifications
  • Updated self-attested copies of prescribed documents in Appendix-IX format

The board cited multiple clauses of its affiliation bylaws to underline an important point. Maintaining such disclosures is not optional for schools. It is a mandatory requirement for all affiliated institutions.

Annual Reporting Requirement

CBSE also pointed to another important requirement. Schools must post an annual report on their website before September 15 every year. This adds to the transparency measures expected from educational institutions.

The circular was issued with the approval of the competent authority. CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta signed the official document. This gives the directive official weight and emphasizes its importance.

Schools across India now have clear instructions and a specific deadline. They must ensure their websites contain accurate, up-to-date information about their teaching staff. The board's warning about potential penalties makes compliance crucial for all affiliated schools.
