Ranchi Schools Prepare for Crucial CBSE Practical Examinations
Schools in Ranchi are in the final stages of preparation for the upcoming Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) practical examinations. The board has issued stringent instructions to ensure the entire process is conducted without errors and that student marks are uploaded accurately to the official portal.
Critical Exam Window and No-Correction Policy
The CBSE has officially declared that the practical examinations for classes X and XII must be completed between January 1 and February 14, 2024. Academic experts have pointed out a crucial rule: once the practical marks are submitted on the CBSE's online portal, no corrections or modifications will be permitted under any circumstances.
The board has placed the responsibility for any mistakes squarely on the schools. This includes errors stemming from oversight, negligence, or simple miscommunication during the data entry process.
Schools on High Alert to Avoid Past Mistakes
Sumit Kaur, Principal of Gurunanak Higher Secondary School, shared insights from the board's communication. "The board has highlighted that common mistakes such as entering wrong roll numbers, incorrect subject codes, or transposing digits while entering marks have led to complications in previous years," she stated. "Hence, schools should cross-check each entry carefully."
To prevent such issues, CBSE has distributed a detailed set of guidelines. These documents cover the evaluation criteria for both theory and practical components. They include the subject-wise distribution of marks, parameters for internal assessment, the specific weightage assigned to practical exams, and the defined roles of external examiners.
Documentation and Infrastructure Readiness
Niraj Kumar Singh, Principal of Firayalal Public School, explained the procedural requirements. "Schools will be required to upload marks after each practical exam, following strict verification protocols," he said. "The schools have been instructed to keep laboratories, equipment and other essential resources fully available and in perfect working condition."
In a move to ensure transparency and accountability, the board has mandated that schools maintain comprehensive records. This includes photographic and documentary evidence of each practical exam, along with detailed attendance records of all participating students. All teachers and external examiners are being briefed on these guidelines to maintain uniformity and fairness across all assessments.
