BSSC 2nd Inter Level 2025: Vacancies Rise to 24,492, Deadline Extended
BSSC Adds 1,317 Posts, New Deadline Jan 15, 2026

In a significant boost for job seekers in Bihar, the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) has announced a major expansion in its ongoing recruitment drive. The total number of vacancies for the BSSC 2nd Inter Level Recruitment 2025 has been substantially increased, offering thousands of additional candidates a chance at government employment.

Enhanced Opportunities and Extended Deadlines

The commission has revised the vacancy count upwards from the initially announced 23,175 posts to 24,492 positions. This change introduces 1,317 new vacancies into the recruitment pool. Alongside this positive development, the BSSC has also provided more time for applicants by extending the submission deadlines. The last date for online application submission is now January 15, 2026, while the fee payment must be completed by January 13, 2026. This extension is a crucial window for candidates who may have missed the earlier cut-off dates.

Detailed Vacancy Breakdown and Reservation Policy

The distribution of the 24,492 vacancies follows Bihar's reservation norms. A total of 10,753 posts are unreserved. The category-wise reserved posts are as follows: 3,407 for Scheduled Castes (SC), 231 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 4,185 for Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), and 2,678 for Backward Classes (BC). Furthermore, 811 posts are reserved for women from Backward Classes, and 2,427 positions are allocated for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). In line with the state's policy for women's empowerment, 7,816 posts across all categories are reserved for women under the 35% horizontal reservation rule.

Eligibility, Selection Process, and Application Guide

The essential eligibility criterion for applicants is the completion of the 12th standard or Intermediate education. For certain specific positions, typing proficiency on a computer is an additional mandatory requirement alongside the educational qualification.

The selection of candidates will be a multi-stage process comprising a preliminary written examination, a main examination, and a skill test. The preliminary exam will be an objective-type test with 150 questions covering General Studies, General Science, Mathematics, and Mental Ability. Candidates will have 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete it, with a negative marking scheme of one mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

The minimum qualifying marks vary by category: 40% for General, 36.5% for BC, 34% for MBC, and 32% for SC/ST candidates. If the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, results will be prepared using a normalization method. From this stage, a number of candidates equal to five times the total vacancies will be shortlisted to appear for the main examination.
