Tragic End for Anna University MBA Student in Cooum River
A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Chennai this week. The body of a young Anna University student was discovered in the Cooum river estuary on Wednesday morning. This followed a desperate suicide attempt witnessed by a passerby the previous night.
Witness Alert Leads to Police Search
A two-wheeler rider saw the tragic event happen on Tuesday night. The witness observed Yuvasri Dhananjayan, a 25-year-old second-year MBA student, jump from Napier Bridge into the river Cooum. The alert citizen immediately informed a police constable stationed nearby on Kamarajar Salai.
Officers from the Anna Square police station rushed to the location. They quickly initiated a search operation along the riverbank. During their initial investigation, police found Yuvasri's personal bag abandoned near the bridge.
Personal Belongings Reveal Heartbreaking Note
The recovered bag contained several important items. Police discovered the student's mobile phone and her official Anna University identity card inside. Most significantly, they found a notebook with a handwritten letter.
The note contained a clear message absolving others of responsibility for her death. Yuvasri expressed profound apologies to her parents and sister in the emotional letter. This discovery confirmed the intentional nature of her actions.
Search Operations and Recovery
Fire and rescue services personnel joined the search effort immediately. They conducted extensive operations throughout Tuesday night along the Cooum river. However, darkness and challenging conditions forced them to suspend their search temporarily.
Teams resumed the operation at first light on Wednesday morning. Their persistence led to a sad discovery around the river mouth area. Yuvasri's body was found washed ashore near the estuary later that day.
Authorities transported the body for a mandatory post-mortem examination. The investigation continues as police work to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic decision by the promising young student.
