A significant national seminar dedicated to shaping the future of education was successfully conducted in Assam this past Saturday. The event, centered on the theme "Holistic Student Development and Confidence Building: Preparing Students for Real-World Challenges," took place at the National Institute for Teacher Education located in Khetri, Kamrup (Metro).
Gathering of Academic Minds for Student Empowerment
The seminar witnessed participation from a distinguished assembly of scholars, professors, academic administrators, and research scholars from various parts of the country. The proceedings began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Binapani Majumdar Bharali, the President of BEF, Khetri. Dr. Sristidhar Biswas, the Principal of the host college, formally welcomed all attendees, including guests, resource persons, and students.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Biswas stressed the critical need for ongoing support for such academic gatherings. He highlighted their role in boosting the academic accomplishments of students across Assam and called for continued efforts in this direction.
Expert Insights on Institutional and Familial Roles
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dulumoni Goswami, Head of the Department of Education at Gauhati University. She elaborated on the seminar's core theme, detailing the institutional duty to equip and empower students to become society's future leaders.
Dr. Md. Baniyamuddin, Regional Director of IGNOU, Guwahati, emphasized the profound link between holistic development and building student confidence. He praised the college for initiating a dialogue that sends a positive message to the wider academic community.
Further perspectives were added by Dr. Mahanda Borah, Principal of Dimoria College (Autonomous), who discussed the complementary roles of family and educational institutions in nurturing well-rounded and confident individuals.
Commitment to Future Academic Endeavors
Prof. Kalyan Pandey, the seminar's chief organizer and a senior professor at the college, outlined the event's key objectives and expressed gratitude for the collective support that ensured its success. Ram Charan Bharali, Secretary of the College Governing Body and Chief of BEF, Khetri, reinforced the importance of the theme and pledged sustained support for similar future programs aimed at student development.
Contributions also came from Dr. Emily Pandey of ASBM University, Bhubaneswar, who spoke on the facets of holistic development needed to groom leaders across disciplines, and Dr. Aradhana Paul from Kolkata's A. Bose Institute, who pinpointed crucial areas for student growth.
Research Contributions and Publication
A major outcome of the seminar was the presentation of research by scholars. Over 20 research papers were presented during the sessions. Hemangi Thakuria, the Librarian of the National Institute for Teacher Education, Khetri, announced that these papers will be published in the college's ISSN-registered Multidisciplinary Research Journal. This step ensures the valuable insights and discussions from the seminar reach a broader academic audience.
The seminar stands as a testament to the academic community's commitment in Assam to move beyond traditional pedagogy. It highlights a focused drive towards creating educational ecosystems that foster resilience, confidence, and comprehensive skills in students, thereby preparing them effectively for the complexities of the modern world.
