This landmark event is scheduled for February 7, organized by the institute's Chess Club in a strategic collaboration with SBI General Insurance Company Ltd (SBI GIC), co-powered by SBI.

The tournament will take place at the Yoga Hall within the New Students' Activity Centre (SAC) at IIT-Kanpur. Adhering to international standards, the competition will be conducted in a 9-round Swiss System format, ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all participants.

In line with FIDE regulations, the event will follow a rapid time control of 10 minutes per player, with an additional 5 seconds increment per move. This format is designed to test players' strategic thinking and quick decision-making skills under pressure.

The winner will be awarded Rs 40,000, while the second and third place finishers will receive Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
