National Hindi Science Summit Kicks Off in Jhansi with Focus on Regional Languages
The National Hindi Science Summit commenced on Friday at Bundelkhand University in Jhansi, marking a significant event dedicated to advancing scientific discourse in regional languages. Over the course of three days, approximately 490 research papers will be presented, showcasing a wide array of technical and scientific topics.
Wide Participation and Collaborative Efforts
More than 250 delegates from various parts of India and abroad are participating in this national seminar, which aims to promote the technical aspects of science through regional languages. The summit is being jointly organized by Bundelkhand University and Vigyan Bharti, an arm of the RSS, in association with the Uttar Pradesh Council of Science and Technology based in Lucknow.
Emphasis on Mother Tongues for Scientific Growth
During the inaugural session, the chief guest, Prof Avinash Chandra Pandey, director of the Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) and former vice-chancellor of Bundelkhand University, highlighted the importance of studying science in mother tongues. He stated that this approach can lead to multidimensional growth in the country and help safeguard national data.
"Science is essentially the revelation and realisation of truth. When such realisation occurs in one's own language, it opens up immense possibilities for development," Prof Pandey remarked. He added that several initiatives are currently underway in India to promote scientific work in native languages.
Role of Regional Languages in Science Education
Presiding over the session, Vice-Chancellor Prof Mukesh Pandey noted that the National Education Policy (NEP) promotes regional languages and emphasized that the conference would significantly contribute to shaping young minds. "If we want to penetrate science deep into the roots of our society, especially in the rural sector, then regional language will play a major role. Our ancient knowledge system is well established in all sectors, including science and medicines," he said.
Shiv Kumar, the national organizing secretary of Vigyan Bharati, pointed out that science is often associated with the English language but stressed the importance of Indian languages in explaining scientific concepts effectively.
Conference Features and Recognitions
The summit will feature 23 technical sessions covering various scientific disciplines, along with discussions on spirituality and yoga. On this occasion, seven individuals were awarded for their contributions towards promoting science among the masses. Additionally, a souvenir containing all the research papers presented at the conference was released, serving as a comprehensive resource for attendees and the broader scientific community.
This event underscores a growing movement in India to integrate regional languages into scientific education and research, fostering greater accessibility and innovation in the field.
