Ahmedabad: Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Navy at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi. This agreement aims to bolster academic, research, and training collaboration in the fields of International Maritime Law, Law of the Sea, and other related legal disciplines.

Scope of the MoU

According to a press release issued by GNLU, the MoU envisions the development and implementation of various educational and training initiatives. These include short-term and long-term courses, online programs in maritime law, residential research projects, and other mutually agreed-upon training activities specifically designed for officers of the Indian Navy.

Past Collaborations

Officials from GNLU highlighted that over the past five years, the university has successfully conducted multiple capacity-building programs for Indian Navy officers, focusing on maritime law and the Law of the Sea. This new MoU formalizes and expands upon these existing efforts, paving the way for a more structured and comprehensive partnership.
