Free German Language Training Programme Launched in Mettupalayam
A new initiative to boost employment prospects for youth has been introduced in Mettupalayam, with the launch of a free German language training programme at the municipal library and knowledge centre. This programme is being conducted under the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation's Vetri Nichayam scheme, aimed at equipping individuals with valuable skills for the global job market.
Programme Structure and Eligibility
The training programme consists of six comprehensive levels, starting with an initial level that includes 80 hours of instruction. Since German is a foreign language, students are strongly advised to dedicate at least two months to the training to achieve proficiency in understanding and speaking effectively. The programme is specifically designed for unemployed youth and students aged between 18 and 35 years, providing them with a unique opportunity to enhance their career prospects.
German language trainer Hariharan, who is the founder of a private language training institute, emphasized the importance of commitment. "Completing only the first level is not enough to secure employment," he stated. "Those aiming to work in Germany must progress to the next level and take the international certification examination."
Certification and Incentives
Once candidates obtain the international certification, they can significantly improve their chances of finding job opportunities in Germany. The exam fee for this certification test is approximately Rs 10,000, which is fully covered by the Tamil Nadu government, removing financial barriers for participants. Additionally, students who achieve certification with over 90% attendance and pass the first level test will receive incentives ranging from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,000, further motivating them to excel.
Class Schedule and Additional Support
The classes are conducted daily from 10 am to 1 pm, offering a structured learning environment. To support thorough preparation, students are allowed to remain at the centre until 6 pm for additional study and practice. This flexible schedule ensures that learners have ample time to master the language and prepare for the certification exams.
This initiative not only promotes language skills but also aligns with broader efforts to reduce unemployment and foster international career opportunities for Tamil Nadu's youth. By providing free access to quality training and financial support, the programme aims to empower individuals to compete in the global workforce.
