SGPC Approves Rs 1 Lakh Award for Sikh Civil Services Qualifiers

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has approved a proposal to honour Sikh students selected for higher administrative services with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh each.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami, in a release issued on Saturday, said the SGPC was making significant efforts to encourage Sikh youth to enter administrative services through competitive examinations.

The SGPC already supports Amritdhari students by paying their fees, provides free education to Amritdhari girls, and offers annual assistance to underprivileged students. Through Nishchay Academy, arrangements have been made to prepare Sikh youth for administrative and judicial services, he added.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to motivate young Sikhs to pursue careers in government administration. The cash award will serve as both recognition and financial support for those who succeed in highly competitive exams.

The SGPC's existing programs include fee payments for Amritdhari students, free education for Amritdhari girls, and yearly aid for needy students. The Nishchay Academy specifically focuses on training Sikh youth for administrative and judicial service exams.
