Krishnagiri: Parents have urged district education and public works department officials to approve funding for the construction of a new compound wall at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Denkanikottai, Krishnagiri district. The existing wall is in a dilapidated condition and could collapse at any time, endangering the lives of students.
The old wall has developed a dangerous lean, prompting the school management to implement urgent safety measures. Teachers continue to conduct classes while remaining on high alert. V Ramesh, a villager, stated, "Heavy stone pillars have been positioned against the fragile portion to keep it standing for now, but this temporary step has added to the anxiety of students and staff members."
Concerns Over Student Safety
Parents express deep concern over the safety of their children, as the temporary support is not a permanent solution. They emphasize that a new wall is essential to prevent any untoward incident. The school, which serves hundreds of students, requires immediate attention from authorities.
Call for Immediate Action
Local residents have appealed to the district administration to expedite the funding process. They believe that the current situation is a ticking time bomb and that proactive measures are necessary. The school management has also submitted a formal request to the education department for the construction of a new compound wall.
This incident highlights the broader issue of infrastructure neglect in government schools across the region. Parents and teachers alike hope that their plea will be heard and that the necessary funds will be released without further delay.
