CHENNAI: Ayisha Thanseem, the daughter of a tailor, has always dreamed of becoming a doctor. On Wednesday, she took a significant step toward that goal by scoring an impressive 497 out of 500 in her Class 10 examinations.
Academic Achievement
A student at Government Muslim Higher Secondary School, Ayisha is not only the city topper and the third-ranked student among government schools in the state, but she also ranks among the top three scorers in the entire city, including students from private, aided, and corporation schools. Overwhelmed with joy, she shared with TOI, "I feel really happy and dedicate this achievement to my parents and teachers. I can't wait to learn more about biology in the coming years, and I am confident of scoring well in Class 12 as well."
Family Background and Financial Challenges
As Ayisha prepares for the next phase of her academic journey, her father, M Kaja Mohideen, is acutely aware of the financial hurdles ahead. "I am not financially well-off and earn barely Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000 a month, half of which goes toward rent. I know I will have to spend a significant amount on NEET coaching for my daughter. I am going to start preparing from now," he said.
School Support and Future Prospects
School staff members have expressed confidence in Ayisha's potential, noting that she has always been a bright student and could potentially achieve a perfect score of 500 out of 500 if she applies for revaluation, which would make her the state topper. "Ayisha is also a beneficiary of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Talent Search Examination, through which she receives scholarships. She will bring more laurels to this school and to herself," said Kanmani Priya, the school head.
Ayisha's story is an inspiring example of determination and hard work, overcoming financial constraints to excel academically.
