In a significant boost for local youth, a one-day employment fair in Kanpur resulted in job offers for 151 students. The event, held on Friday, was a collaborative effort between the state Employment Exchange Kanpur Nagar and DAV Degree College, which hosted the fair on its premises.
Strong Turnout and Impressive Selection Rate
The job fair witnessed active participation, with a total of 243 students taking part in the recruitment process. After evaluating candidates based on their educational qualifications and performance in interviews, companies extended offers to 151 students. The selected candidates can expect monthly salaries ranging between Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000. The college principal, Arun Kumar Dixit, personally distributed the appointment letters to the successful students.
Diverse Companies Scout for Talent
A wide array of reputed companies set up stalls at the fair to recruit suitable candidates. Notable participants included Foods India Ltd (KFC), Central Life Insurance, Apsara Engineering (Blinkit), Aptive India Ltd, and Tata Autocomp System Ltd. Other recruiters were Carrier Bridge Solutions, Pankaj Enterprises, Defence Security Services, Sri Ram Finance Group, and Shiv Shakti Agro Tech Ltd. This diversity provided students with options across sectors like fast-food, engineering, insurance, finance, and security services.
Inauguration and Words of Encouragement
The fair was formally inaugurated by Mayor Pramila Pandey and Assistant Employment Officer Priya Gautam, who lit the traditional lamp to mark the occasion. Principal Arun Kumar Dixit welcomed the distinguished guests and participants. In her address, Mayor Pramila Pandey emphasized the crucial role such events play in shaping careers.
She stated that these fairs open doors to employment opportunities in well-known companies for students. The Mayor also inspired the attending youth to consistently focus on skill development, highlighting its importance for long-term career growth. The event stands as a successful model of how institutional collaboration between government bodies and educational institutes can directly address youth employment.
