UP Board Exam 2025 Fraud: Two Women Impersonators Nabbed in Azamgarh After Year on the Run
In a significant crackdown on examination malpractice, two women who impersonated candidates in the Uttar Pradesh Board exam 2025 have been arrested in Azamgarh district. The arrests came after a year-long evasion following a raid that initially led to the detention of six other accused individuals.
Joint Operation Uncovers Impersonation Scheme
The arrests were made through a coordinated effort between the Special Task Force (STF) and the Gambhirpur police. According to Azamgarh Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar, the operation was part of a broader initiative to ensure a copying-free environment for the UP Board examinations scheduled for 2025.
The raid took place on March 6, 2025, at Pandit Kamta Prasad Inter College in Mudhar Thekma, located under the jurisdiction of the Gambhirpur police station. During the inspection, authorities discovered that impersonators were writing the exams on behalf of enrolled candidates. This fraudulent activity was facilitated by tampering with photographs on Aadhaar cards, allowing the solvers to assume the identities of legitimate examinees.
Exposure of Institutional Complicity
As the investigation progressed, it revealed deeper layers of involvement. School manager Vijay Tiwari and principal Babita Tiwari were implicated for allegedly orchestrating the scheme. They are accused of enabling candidates to use impersonators in exchange for substantial sums of money, compromising the integrity of the examination process.
Following these findings, a First Information Report (FIR) was promptly filed. Six individuals were arrested on the spot during the raid, but two women managed to escape initial capture, leading to a prolonged manhunt.
Arrests After Extended Evasion
The two fugitives, identified as Priyanka Pal and Seema, were finally apprehended by Gambhirpur police on Tuesday. They were taken into custody from their respective homes, marking the culmination of an intensive search operation that spanned nearly a year.
This case highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining exam security and the lengths to which some individuals will go to subvert educational assessments. The arrests underscore the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold academic honesty and prosecute those involved in fraudulent activities.
