Andhra Pradesh Students Secure Perfect Scores in JEE Main 2026
In a remarkable academic achievement, two students from Andhra Pradesh have attained a perfect 100 percentile in the JEE (Main) 2026 session one, the results of which were officially declared on Monday. Narendrababu Gari Mahith and Pasala Mohith are part of an elite group of just 12 students across the entire country who have accomplished this rare and prestigious feat.
Context of the Achievement
To fully appreciate the magnitude of their success, it is essential to note that over 13 lakh (1.3 million) candidates appeared for the JEE Main session one this year. This intense competition makes securing a 100 percentile an extraordinary milestone, highlighting the exceptional talent and dedication of these young scholars.
Insights from Narendrababu Gari Mahith
Speaking to the media, Mahith, a student at Narayana Junior College in Tirupati, emphasized the critical role of confidence in excelling in the JEE. "Once you believe you have the passion and determination to crack the exam, the path becomes clearer," he stated. "Self-confidence not only drives preparation but also helps overcome the pressure and uncertainty that the exam brings."
Mahith detailed his preparation strategy, which included:
- Studying NCERT textbooks thoroughly
- Revising the syllabus consistently
- Following notes and strategies shared by faculty members
His father, Narendra Babu, works in the private sector, while his mother is a homemaker. Mahith previously studied in Anantapur before relocating to Tirupati for his intermediate studies. Beyond academics, he enjoys playing cricket regularly. Regarding his future plans, Mahith indicated that he will decide on his preferred branch or IIT only after the JEE Advanced results are announced, and he is currently also preparing for his board exams.
Background of Pasala Mohith
Pasala Mohith, the other student from Andhra Pradesh to score a perfect percentile, comes from a unique background. Both of his parents are government doctors stationed in Jammalamadugu within the YSR Kadapa district. Recognizing his strong interest and aptitude in mathematics, they encouraged him to pursue MPC (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) during his intermediate studies.
Mohith completed his initial schooling in Jammalamadugu before moving to Vijayawada for classes 9 and 10, as well as his intermediate studies at Sri Chaitanya, Vijayawada. He aspires to join IIT Bombay after clearing JEE Advanced.
He shared his rigorous preparation routine:
- Writing a mock examination every week
- Discussing the mock tests with friends in the evening
- Receiving answer sheets and concept explanations from teachers the next day
"This process helped us understand where we were faltering, whether in time management or conceptual gaps," Mohith explained. "In this way, I improved myself over the last two years and finally scored the 100 percentile."
Additional Notable Performance
In another commendable achievement, Deva Srivedh, also from Andhra Pradesh, scored over 99.999 percentile, topping the country in the SC category. This further underscores the state's strong representation in this highly competitive examination.
Result Announcement Details
The JEE Main 2026 session one results were initially scheduled for release on February 12. However, the National Testing Agency later announced a revised date, stating that the results would be published by February 16. As the results were released only after 6 PM on Monday, many students, particularly those set to appear for the CBSE board exams starting February 17, spent the day in anxious anticipation of their scores.
This delay added to the tension for candidates balancing multiple academic commitments, yet the outstanding performances by students like Mahith and Mohith serve as an inspiration to aspirants nationwide.
