The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, announced the TN SSLC Result 2026 today, with the state achieving an overall pass percentage of 94.31 per cent in the Class 10 public examinations. Over 8.70 lakh students participated in the SSLC exams conducted from March 11 to April 6 across the state.
M Suganthi Emerges Among Top Performers
M Suganthi, a student from Ashok Nagar Girls Higher Secondary School in Chennai, secured 496 marks out of 500, placing her among the city toppers. She also secured the second position among government school students in Chennai following the declaration of the Class 10 board examination results. Suganthi is the daughter of a water can delivery worker. Her outstanding performance made her the topper of her school after the results were released online via tnresults.nic.in and other official portals. The Tamil Nadu board has not issued an official statewide topper list for the SSLC examinations this year.
Aims to Pursue Civil Services
Speaking to TOI after the results, Suganthi shared her plans to take up Business Mathematics in higher secondary education before preparing for civil services. "I want to take Business Mathematics and later pursue civil services," she said. In a lighter moment, she expressed her wish to meet Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. "I secretly wished that I get called to the Chief Minister's office for felicitation. My mom and I are his biggest fans. I would like to meet him and share this wonderful news," she told TOI.
Tamil Nadu Records Improved Overall Performance
Tamil Nadu recorded an overall pass percentage of 94.31 per cent this year, slightly improving from last year's 93.80 per cent. A total of 8,70,643 students appeared for the examinations. Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 96.47 per cent, while boys secured 92.15 per cent. The performance gap between girls and boys stood at 4.32 percentage points.
Thousands of Schools Achieve Cent Per Cent Results
The Directorate of Government Examinations reported that 5,171 schools achieved a 100 per cent pass percentage, including 1,931 government schools. Overall, 12,467 schools participated in the Class 10 public examinations. Board data also showed that 8,233 schools recorded pass percentages above 95 per cent. Students can continue to download provisional scorecards through tnresults.nic.in, dge.tn.gov.in, DigiLocker, and other official platforms. The online marksheets contain subject-wise marks, total score, and qualifying status.
