SSC Announces Comprehensive 2026-27 Recruitment Calendar with Nine Major Examinations
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially unveiled its ambitious recruitment cycle for the 2026-27 period, set to commence in March of this year. This extensive drive will span from March to September 2026, inviting applications for nine significant examinations that cover a diverse array of positions across various central government departments and security forces.
March 2026: Launch of Three Key Examinations
The recruitment initiative will kick off in March 2026 with the notification for the highly anticipated Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026. Simultaneously, the commission will open applications for the Junior Engineer Examination 2026, which includes civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines, as well as the Selection Post Phase-14 Examination 2026.
Important deadlines: Applications for these three examinations will be accepted until the end of April 2026. The first-phase computer-based tests for these exams are tentatively proposed to be conducted in May 2026.
April 2026: Expansion with Three Additional Notifications
In April 2026, SSC will release notifications for three more crucial examinations:
- Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination 2026
- Stenographer Grade 'C' and 'D' Examination 2026
- Junior Hindi Translator Examination 2026
The application window for these exams is expected to remain open until the end of May 2026, with the examinations likely scheduled between July and September 2026.
May 2026: Security Forces Recruitment Announcement
May 2026 will see the notification for the Sub-Inspector recruitment examination, targeting positions in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Applications for this examination will be accepted until June 2026, with the examination tentatively scheduled for October-November 2026.
June-July 2026: Support Staff and Havaldar Positions
Further expanding the recruitment scope, the Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) and Havaldar recruitment examination for posts under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs and Central Bureau of Narcotics will open for applications in June and July 2026. Examinations for these positions are slated to occur between September and November 2026.
September-October 2026: Constable and Rifleman Recruitment for 2027 Cycle
Looking ahead to the 2027 recruitment cycle, applications for constable (General Duty) posts in CAPFs, National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSF), along with rifleman (General Duty) positions in Assam Rifles, will be invited in September-October 2026. The examination for these posts is expected to take place between January and March 2027.
