Prayagraj Misses Top 100 in UPSC 2025, Past Glories Recalled

Prayagraj Region Fails to Secure Top 100 Positions in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025

In a notable departure from its historical performance, the Prayagraj region did not produce any candidates who broke into the top 100 ranks in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025. The results, which were officially declared on Friday, highlighted a stark contrast to previous years when the area had consistently delivered high-ranking achievers, including an All India Rank (AIR) 1 holder.

Historical Excellence and Recent Shift

This outcome stands in sharp contrast to the recent past. Last year, Shakti Dubey from Naini achieved AIR 1 in the Civil Services Examination 2024, bringing national acclaim to Prayagraj's robust academic culture. The region has a long-standing tradition of excellence in this prestigious examination. Earlier successes include Smriti Mishra from Allapur securing AIR 4 in 2022, Soumya Pandey attaining AIR 4 in 2016 on her first attempt, and Anubhav Singh, a farmer's son from Handia, bagging AIR 8 in 2017.

Top Performers from the Region in UPSC 2025

Despite the absence from the top 100, several candidates from the Prayagraj area achieved commendable ranks. The highest rank associated with the region was secured by Madhavendra Pratap Singh, who attained AIR 153. Hailing from Donae village in Pratapgarh, he is the son of a railway TTE. After completing his schooling, he prepared for competitive exams in Kota and graduated in electrical engineering from IIT Kharagpur.

Another notable success came from Pratapgarh's Rupapur locality, where Soumya Sharma secured AIR 168. Soumya previously worked as an inspector in the income tax department for nearly three years, cleared the UPSC exam in 2024 to join the Indian Revenue Service, and improved his rank in the latest results through persistent effort.

Prayagraj City Candidates and Their Journeys

From Prayagraj city itself, Aditya Singh, a student in the department of ancient history at Allahabad University, achieved AIR 508. At just 23 years old, he cleared the examination in his second attempt after postgraduate studies, having reached the interview stage in his first attempt but missing final selection.

Deabanshoo Singh secured AIR 564 in his fifth attempt. He completed schooling at Boys High School and pursued higher education at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology. His father serves as an assistant engineer in the PWD posted in New Delhi, while his mother is a homemaker.

Abhishek Kumar Vishwakarma from Atanpur village in Phulpur tehsil attained AIR 650. He completed intermediate studies at Jwala Devi Inter College and graduated from the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, in 2022, succeeding in his third attempt with anthropology as his optional subject.

Other Successful Candidates and Their Backgrounds

Atul Singh, currently serving as a naib tehsildar in Jaunpur after clearing the state PCS examination, secured AIR 697 in his fifth attempt. An engineering graduate from IIT Kanpur, he balanced UPSC preparation with his government service.

Prakhar Shukla from the city achieved AIR 787 in his second attempt. A graduate of Allahabad University, he had previously reached the interview stage in his first attempt in 2024.

Among other successful candidates, Shivani Tyagi secured AIR 807. Originally from Hapur, she prepared for the exam while staying with her sister in Sangam city, where her sister is a railway officer posted in Prayagraj.

Nivedita Chandra attained AIR 855 in her fifth attempt. A BTech graduate from Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, she had earlier cleared the UP PCS examination and secured AIR 1008 in the 2023 UPSC exam, joining the Indian Railway Management Service (Traffic) before reattempting to improve her rank.

The results underscore a temporary dip in top-tier rankings for Prayagraj, yet the region continues to produce determined candidates who achieve success through perseverance and hard work in one of India's most challenging competitive examinations.
