GSHSEB Class 10 Mathematics Paper Presents Moderate Challenge with Twisted Questions
In the ongoing Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) examinations, the Class 10 standard mathematics paper held on Monday was assessed as moderately difficult by both students and educators. The exam featured several questions with unexpected twists, leading to confusion among many test-takers during the session.
Detailed Analysis of the Class 10 Mathematics Exam
Based on feedback from teachers, the paper was characterized as ranging from moderate to difficult in complexity. In Section A, some one-mark questions were framed in a slightly convoluted manner, requiring students to pause and deliberate before responding. This, combined with the inclusion of lengthy calculations, reportedly made it challenging for numerous students to finish the paper within the allocated three-hour timeframe.
However, subject experts emphasized that the exam largely adhered to the board's prescribed blueprint. The five-mark questions in Section A were specifically designed to evaluate students' analytical and critical thinking skills. In Sections B, C, and D, most questions—with the exception of one from the polynomial chapter—were drawn directly from the textbook without alterations to numerical values, though a few involved extensive computations.
Educators noted that well-prepared students are likely to achieve full marks, while average performers might secure scores around 65 to 70. Even students with limited preparation could anticipate marks between 40 and 50, indicating a broad range of outcomes based on preparation levels.
Class 12 Science and General Stream Exam Experiences
Meanwhile, in the Class 12 Science stream, the mathematics paper for Group A students was considered relatively easy. The majority of questions were sourced directly from the textbook, although a few multiple-choice questions had slightly modified numerical values. Some questions in Part B also mirrored those from previous examinations. Nonetheless, average students reported that the paper felt somewhat lengthy, potentially affecting their completion time.
In the Class 12 general stream, the statistics paper was described as very straightforward. Subject expert Chirag Bhavsar confirmed that all questions were derived from the textbook, with none sourced from external publications. He added that many students could easily score around 90 marks, and there is an expected increase in the number of students achieving a perfect score of 100 this year.
