The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has officially released the academic calendar for the 2026-27 academic year. This comprehensive schedule outlines key dates for examinations, vacations, and instructional periods for students across the state.
Board Exam Schedule for Classes 10 and 12
As per the newly declared schedule, the board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 in 2027 will commence on February 25 and conclude on March 17. These dates are crucial for students preparing for their final board exams.
Academic Year Structure
The academic year will begin on June 8, 2026, with the first term continuing until November 4, encompassing 120 instructional days. Following this, students will enjoy a Diwali vacation from November 5 to November 25, providing a 21-day break. The second term will start on November 26 and continue until May 2, 2027, comprising 124 instructional days. Overall, the academic year will include 244 days of teaching, of which 240 days will be actual working days after excluding local holidays.
Internal Examinations and Tests
The board has also scheduled key internal exams during the year. The first examination for Classes 9 to 12 will be conducted from October 22 to November 2, 2026. The second (preliminary) examination is planned between January 18 and January 28, 2027. Additionally, the Prakharata Shodh Test will be held on January 30, 2027.
School-Level and Practical Exams
For board classes, school-level subject examinations will take place from February 1 to February 3, 2027. Practical examinations for Class 12 science students are scheduled between February 5 and February 13, 2027. After the board exams, annual examinations for Classes 9 and 11 will be conducted from April 5 to April 20, 2027.
Supplementary Examinations
The calendar also includes supplementary examinations for Classes 10 and 12, which will be held from June 11 to June 22, 2027, at the beginning of the academic year.
Vacation Schedule
In terms of vacations, students will enjoy approximately 80 days of holidays throughout the year. This includes 21 days of Diwali vacation, 35 days of summer vacation from May 3 to June 6, 2027, and 24 days of public and local holidays. Sundays will be additional holidays.
Monthly Working Days
Month-wise, July will have the highest number of working days (27), while May will have only one instructional day, reflecting the summer break.
