The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class XII results on Wednesday, with students from Goa registering an impressive pass percentage of 96.4%. A total of 800 students—comprising 405 boys and 395 girls—from 12 CBSE higher secondary schools in the state appeared for the examinations across nine centres.

Of these, 771 students (388 boys and 383 girls) successfully cleared the exam. The pass percentage for male students stood at 95.8%, while female students achieved a higher rate of 96.9%, according to data released by the CBSE.

Performance by School Type

The data reveals that the highest number of students—342—appeared for the CBSE Class XII exams through independent schools affiliated with the board. Among them, 315 cleared the exam, resulting in a pass percentage of 92.1%.

The second largest group of students came from Kendriya Vidyalaya schools, with 263 students appearing. All of them passed, achieving a perfect 100% pass percentage.

Similarly, the two district Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in Goa saw 85 students taking the exams, all of whom passed, recording a 100% result. JNVs are residential schools established under a central government-funded scheme, one in each district, designed to cater especially to children from economically weaker sections. Goa has one JNV each in Valpoi and Canacona.

Additionally, 108 students from government-run schools in the state appeared for the exams this year, and all of them cleared, achieving a 100% pass rate.

Category-wise Breakdown

From Goa, 621 general category students took the CBSE Class XII exams this year, along with 114 under the OBC category, 47 under SC category, and 18 under ST category, as per the board's data.

Regional Comparison

Goa is classified under the Pune region by the CBSE. The overall pass percentage for the Pune region was 87.3%, with over 22,000 students appearing for the CBSE Class XII exam this year. Goa's pass percentage of 96.4% surpassed the regional average significantly.
