CBSE Class 12 Accountancy Exam Conducted Nationwide with Mixed Student Reactions
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully administered the Class 12 Accountancy examination today across India in a single shift from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Lakhs of commerce students participated at designated centres, adhering to standard board protocols and guidelines to ensure a smooth and fair testing environment.
Official Question Paper PDF Released for Post-Exam Analysis
Following the conclusion of the exam, the CBSE has officially released the question paper in PDF format. This document allows students to verify their responses, review the overall question pattern, and conduct a detailed performance analysis. Access to the PDF is crucial for self-assessment and future preparation strategies.
Student Feedback: Moderate Difficulty with Time Management Challenges
Initial reactions from students at various schools, including Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Shree Ram Colony, and GGSSS Sonia Vihar, indicate that the paper was moderately difficult but notably lengthy. Many found the time constraint to be a significant hurdle, requiring careful pacing to complete all sections.
Gitismita Das of Sai Vikash School in Guwahati commented, "Overall, the paper was well-structured and fair, but it felt quite lengthy. For Accountancy, the three-hour limit was tight, and we needed extra time to finish comfortably."
Students reported that while questions aligned with the syllabus and covered familiar concepts, effective time management was essential to attempt all parts. The balance between conceptual understanding and application-based problems added to the complexity, making it a challenging yet manageable experience for prepared candidates.
Expert Analysis: Balanced and Competency-Focused Examination
According to a joint analysis by Ankur Agarwal and Asif Khan, PGT Accountancy at Jain International Residential School in Bengaluru, the paper was moderately difficult and effectively balanced conceptual knowledge with practical application. They noted that average students could achieve good scores with systematic preparation and clear conceptual foundations.
The question paper comprehensively covered all major units, staying true to the prescribed syllabus. A standout feature was the inclusion of competency-based Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) that demanded analytical thinking and interpretation of financial data, moving beyond rote memorization.
Internal choices were provided across sections, offering flexibility and catering to diverse student strengths. Notably, the Cash Flow Statement question was presented in a paragraph-based format instead of the traditional balance sheet style, requiring careful reading and data extraction skills. While no direct journal entries from Accounting for Partnership Firms were asked, related concepts were tested through MCQs.
Overall Expert Feedback on Paper Structure and Content
Dhruba Mijar, PGT-Commerce at Modern English School in Guwahati, described the paper as moderate, well-balanced, and fair. He stated that most MCQs were straightforward, though a few could be slightly confusing for some students.
He added that the 3–4-mark questions from Accounting for Companies were of a good standard, while partnership questions were common and manageable. The six-mark questions lacked tricky elements, and the Financial Statements Analysis section featured direct and simple ratios, making it accessible for students with a solid grasp of fundamentals.
Implications for Future Preparation and Educational Trends
This year's Accountancy exam underscores a shift towards competency-based assessment, emphasizing critical thinking and real-world application over memorization. Students and educators are encouraged to focus on developing analytical skills and efficient time management strategies for future examinations.
The release of the question paper PDF facilitates immediate feedback and learning, helping students identify areas for improvement. As board exams evolve, such resources become invaluable for academic growth and success in competitive environments.
