Indian arms firm SSS Defence debuts at Milipol Paris 2025

In a historic moment for India's defense sector, Bengaluru-based arms manufacturer SSS Defence is making its international debut at Milipol Paris 2025, becoming the first Indian infantry systems company to showcase fully indigenous equipment at the prestigious global security exhibition.

A Proud Moment for Indian Defense Manufacturing

The company, established in 2017, is participating in the international homeland security and safety exhibition running from November 18 to 25 in the French capital. This landmark achievement represents a significant step forward for India's defense export capabilities on the global stage.

Vivek Krishnan, CEO of SSS Defence, expressed immense pride in this accomplishment, stating that their participation signifies the success of the Make in India initiative and demonstrates the potential for Indian defense exports in international markets. The company's core mission focuses on advancing India's domestic manufacturing capabilities by developing gear specifically designed to meet the practical operational requirements of armed forces and law enforcement agencies.

Comprehensive Indigenous Product Portfolio

SSS Defence offers an impressive range of infantry weapons systems that includes assault rifles, pistols, sub-machine guns, and highly sophisticated sniper rifles. The company is also reportedly working on developing a remote-controlled weapon station, expanding its technological capabilities.

The sniper rifles from SSS Defence have attracted particular attention from international defense experts. Available in both 7.62×51 mm NATO and .338 Lapua Magnum calibres, these weapons are engineered for exceptional long-distance accuracy. The .338 variant, considered a top-tier calibre, demonstrates remarkable capability by engaging targets at distances of approximately 1.5 kilometers.

Building Self-Reliance in Defense Production

In an interview with The Week magazine, Dinesh Shivanna, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of SSS Defence, emphasized the company's commitment to complete indigenous manufacturing. He highlighted the strategic importance of domestic production capabilities, noting that during conflicts or emergencies, India would not face supply chain crises if weapons are entirely manufactured within the country.

The company's vision extends beyond mere manufacturing – they aim to create a self-reliant defense ecosystem where production can be scaled up rapidly without depending on foreign suppliers. This approach aligns perfectly with India's broader strategic goals of achieving defense autonomy.

SSS Defence's international breakthrough is already yielding tangible results. According to reports from The Print, the company secured supplementary orders for its .338 Lapua Magnum calibre sniper rifle from a friendly nation after positive field testing and user experience. Additionally, the company landed a separate $30 million contract to supply ammunition of a different calibre to the same country.

This growing international recognition underscores the quality and reliability of Indian-made defense equipment and positions SSS Defence as a emerging global player in the competitive defense manufacturing landscape.
